Build your own eBike conversion kit

We don't currently stock complete conversion kits. What we do carry is every part you need to build one: hub motors and wheels, batteries, controllers, displays, throttles, pedal assist sensors, and wiring. You pick the components, which means you spec the exact power, range, and budget you want instead of taking a fixed bundle.

One rule matters more than any other: all electrical parts must be the same voltage. A 48V battery on a 36V controller will damage it. A 36V battery on a 48V system won't run properly, if at all.

Not sure where to start? Our team has helped thousands of Canadians convert their bikes and can put together a compatible parts list for your bike, terrain, and budget. Full Canadian support and free shipping.

What you need for a complete build

  • Hub motor (usually laced into a wheel) or mid drive unit
  • Battery and matching charger
  • Controller
  • Display and/or throttle
  • Pedal assist (PAS) sensor
  • Wiring harness and connectors
  • Torque arms and battery mount

Making the parts work together

  • Voltage first. Battery, controller, motor, and display must all be the same nominal voltage, usually 36V or 48V. Never mix them.
  • Charger matches the battery. A 36V pack charges at 42V, a 48V pack at 54.6V. The wrong charger is a fire risk.
  • Controller current. Volts x amps = watts. A 48V controller at 15A supports roughly a 720W motor.
  • BMS rating. The battery's BMS must handle the controller's peak draw or the pack will cut out under load.
  • Connectors and protocol. Phase, hall, and display connections need to match or be adapted. Ask us before mixing brands.

Send us your bike details and what you want out of it, and we'll confirm the parts list before you order.

Hub drive vs mid drive

Hub motors replace your front or rear wheel. Easier to install, more affordable, and reliable for flat to moderate terrain and commuting. Mid drives replace the bottom bracket and drive through your gears: better on hills, more natural feel, better for trail use.

What wattage do I need?

350W suits casual riders on flat terrain, quiet and legal everywhere in Canada. 500W is the most versatile choice for mixed terrain and hills. 750W handles heavier riders, steep hills, and cargo, and is legal in most provinces as a power-assisted bicycle when speed limited to 32 km/h.

Will these parts fit my bike?

Most motors suit 26″, 27.5″, and 700c wheels. You'll need 100mm front or 135mm rear dropout spacing and enough frame clearance for the battery. Disc brake bikes need a disc-compatible hub. Share your bike's specs and we'll confirm fit before you order.

How hard is the install?

A hub motor build takes 1 to 3 hours with basic tools. Mid drive installs are more involved. ENVO components are designed for DIY installation with instructions and video guides, and most local bike shops can handle it if you'd rather not.

Does it void my bike's warranty?

Possibly. Adding a motor to a bike not designed for one may affect the frame warranty. Most conversions are done on older bikes or bikes out of warranty. If your bike is new, check with the manufacturer first.
