Retrofit electric bikes and ENVO's conversion platform let you transform an existing bicycle frame into a fully functional e-bike — a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to buying an entirely new electric bike.
What is an ENVO retrofit kit?
ENVO's retrofit kits — particularly the D-Series — include a hub motor wheel, battery, controller, and display that bolt onto compatible existing bicycle frames. The result is a converted e-bike with full pedal assist and optional throttle, using your existing frame and drivetrain components.
Which bikes are compatible with ENVO retrofit kits?
ENVO kits are designed for standard 26" and 700C wheel bikes with quick-release or bolt-on dropouts. The kit replaces your front or rear wheel with a motorised hub wheel. Most standard aluminium and steel frame bicycles are compatible. Full compatibility guides are available on each kit's product page.
Is converting a bike to electric cheaper than buying a new e-bike?
For riders with a quality existing bike frame, a conversion kit can be significantly more economical. A 350W or 500W ENVO kit can cost considerably less than a comparable complete e-bike while delivering similar riding performance.
Do retrofit conversion kits qualify for BC's PST exemption?
Conversion kits sold separately as components do not automatically qualify for the PST exemption — the exemption applies to complete e-bikes. However, pre-converted retrofit bikes sold as complete e-bikes in our store do qualify where applicable.
What is the ENVO D-Series?
The ENVO D-Series is ENVO's flagship retrofit platform — a complete conversion ecosystem including multiple battery options, controller tiers, and display systems designed to work together as a cohesive e-bike conversion solution built and supported in British Columbia.
