Fenders are a non-negotiable commuting accessory for BC riders — keeping road spray, mud, and wet debris off your clothes and bike components throughout the province's nine months of unpredictable rain.
What types of eBike fenders are available?
Full-length fenders mount to frame eyelets and cover nearly the entire wheel arc, providing maximum protection. Clip-on fenders attach without frame eyelets for bikes without mounting points. SKS, Portland Design Works, and OEM fenders are available in 26", 27.5", and 700C sizes.
Do all eBikes have fender mounts?
Most commuter and hybrid eBikes include fender eyelets on the fork and chainstays. Performance road and mountain eBikes often lack these mounts. For bikes without eyelets, clip-on or P-clamp fenders provide adequate coverage without permanent modification.
What width fender do I need?
Fender width should be 8–10mm wider than your tire width for adequate coverage. A 2.0" (50mm) tire needs approximately 58–65mm fender width. Fat tire eBikes (4"+ tires) require extra-wide fenders available as specialty accessories.
Are fenders worth installing in BC?
Absolutely — riders in Metro Vancouver, Victoria, and the Fraser Valley can expect 150+ rainy days per year. Without fenders, a wet commute leaves road spray across your back, legs, and face within minutes. Quality fenders also protect frame components, brake surfaces, and drivetrain from abrasive grit in road spray.
How do I mount fenders to my eBike?
Full fender installation requires fender eyelets, appropriate hardware (supplied with most fender kits), and 30–60 minutes of installation time. Staying aligned with the tire while tightening mounting brackets is the primary challenge. EBikeBC's service team offers fender installation as part of their accessory fitting service.
