EBike Regulations In Quebec

According to the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec an EBike is a bicycle equipped with a motor of 500W or less, this ebike must have pedals and handle bar and when the motor is not in use it should be operated as a tradition bike using muscle power. The maximum allowable number of wheel touching the ground is three.
In addition to this cyclist must wear a helmet that meets standards, for a complete list of applicable standards please consult this link. The minimum age of the user is 14 but the cyclist between the age of 14-17 must have Class 6D license (required to operate moped or scooter). The ebike cannot be registered by the authorities, hence an adult does not need a license or insurance to operate the ebike.
